Finished in 2018, The Arches is a stunning stone-built holiday cottage in the idyllic coastal village of Newton-by-the-Sea.

An open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting room complete with gas woodburner and a 48” Smart TV  occupy the ground floor, alongside a double bedroom with en-suite shower room. A further two bedrooms are just up the stairs, each with access to their own bathroom. The master suite is a sanctuary to look forward to escaping to each evening. Outside there’s off-street parking for two cars and an enclosed garden terrace (accessible from the sitting room and front door), complete with patio furniture. The ideal place to enjoy breakfast in the morning sun, or a drink before dinner.

Bed linen, towels, air source central heating, gas, electricity, cot, highchair and stairgate are all included at no additional charge.

A beautiful clean house in a stunning location. Everything anyone could wish for. Beaches close by, castles, pubs and great coastal walks. Dog friendly and ample parking. Definitely the best holiday home we’ve ever stopped in and we hope to go back very soon.

The Area

Newton-by-the-Sea is perhaps one of the most picturesque villages in this part of Northumberland. There is a family friendly pub well-known for its excellent food only 100 yards from the cottage, and a beautiful golden sandy beach less than a mile away.

The welcoming village of Embleton (and location of sister cottage, Lynecroft) is 2 miles south where there is a village shop, pubs and its own stretch of golden sands. The wide sweep of sandy beach, Beadnell Bay, is 4 miles north, a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts, including sailing, sea kayaking, wind surfing and scuba diving.

Two miles further up the coastline is the traditional fishing port of Seahouses, where boat trips to the nearby Farne Islands, famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony, depart regularly from its harbour. The picture perfect village of Bamburgh, snuggled in the shadow of its majestic castle, is a further 3 miles north.

Just a few miles inland is the bustling market town of Alnwick with its own dramatic castle (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts). There, visitors can find an array of shopping locations including 4 supermarkets to stock up on supplies.
